Chances are good that you won’t get rich from writing, or even pay a month’s bills, but that’s not why we write.
You don’t write to become the next JK Rowling, Stephen King, or George Lucas. You don’t write to become famous. You don’t write to wallow in piles of cash.
There’s only one reason to write: To tell a good story.
Fame, fortune, and even a steady paycheck as a writer all lie beyond your control. The only thing you can control is the story.
If you’re a poet, you definitely don’t do it for the money.
